ConferenceThe Centre for Doctoral Training in Ultra Precision Engineering relies on extensive support from industrial and government partners. These partners contribute highly to the MRes projects and PhD years of selected students. Cranfield MRes Research Projects

Research ProjectsThe Cranfield MRes students are offered a number of individual projects from supervisors who are willing to support these projects. The projects began in October and are completed in September. The project topics are spread across the field Ultra Precision engineering. Some time, the research project is spent at the sponsor location.

Cambridge MRes Long Projects

samples-cbk2The Cambridge MRes students have now begun their long projects hosted by a number of Cambridge supervisors across the university departments. These projects are all based around the topic of Ultra Precision Engineering but throughout a wide variety of subject areas. Many students are collaborating with our current project partners and future partners on these projects, with a number of these projects going forward to the PhD stage.

Engineering Diversity: Athena SWAN Silver Award

EngineeringDiversity The University of Cambridge Engineering Department were successfully awarded the Athena SWAN Silver Award in April 2017. The Silver Award honours the significant progress the Department has made since it received the Bronze Award in 2013 and recognises the Department’s comprehensive plan to ensure that this progress is sustained.

Ultra Precision Conference 2017 - Congratulations!

UP 2017 Conf 1The 2017 student-led Ultra Precision Conference was successfully organised by the MRes cohort, taking place on the 27 April 2017 at Cranfield University. The event  provided an opportunity for industrialists and academic researchers to share their latest ideas and to explore future collaborative opportunities in the field of ultra precision engineering.

Cambridge Science Festival - MRes Activity

The Institute for Manufacturing opened its doors for the University of Cambridge Science Festival on the 25th March 2017. The Cambridge MRes cohort ran their own activity on the day, Laser Game Controller, which was a great success! MRes student James Macdonald wrote an article about the system works which is forthcoming in BluSci magazine.
