Centre for Doctoral Training in Ultra Precision Engineering

Biography

Jamie received a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Cardiff University. After successfully completing projects characterising the electrical properties of carbon nanotube textiles, Jamie began to work with Dr Hannah Joyce on ultrafast terahertz spectroscopic methods to better understand these (and other) interesting materials. Jamie also maintains and develops the code used to operate an optical pump-terahertz probe spectroscopy system at the University of Cambridge.

Jamie’s current interests are:

-          High frequency characterisation methods (primarily THz Time Domain Spectroscopy and Optical Pump-Terahertz Probe Spectroscopy, though also RF and microwave methods)

-          The electrical properties of low dimensional materials, like carbon nanotubes, graphene, nanowires and composites, as probed by the optical methods above

-          THz imaging

-          THz devices

-          Computer generated holography
