Creating 3D nanomagnetic circuits for applications in spintronics

In the 3D nanomagnetic paradigm, new physics phenomena such as new types of domain wall, 3D spin texture and dynamic effects have a great potential leading to new functionalities which will find application in fields such as sensing, actuating, information storage and ‘internet of things’.

Project overview

The aim of the project is to create true three-dimensional nanomagnetic circuits for applications in spintronics. The state-of-the-art 3D nanoprinting methods based on focused electron beam induced deposition and focused ion beam are employed. We will explore the viability of creating 3D geometries such as racetrack memory, including the integration of multi-layered nanostructure materials. A new method to contact electrically 3D nanostructures will also be developed during the project, which will allow to investigate spintronic effects in 3D systems.
