Requirements

We welcome applicants from any field of science or engineering who have obtained a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent).

Applicants should possess an innovative approach to problem solving, well-developed technical skills and have the potential to become world leaders in the field of ultra precision manufacturing.

To find out if you need to take a language test as part of your application, please see the Graduate Admissions site here.

Students must partake in the MRes year even if they have a Master’s qualification already.

The MRes is specially designed for the Ultra Precision PhD, meaning it is an integral part of the course.

Students are not required to reapply for the PhD if they are to remain at the institution they are registered for the MRes year at, i.e. Cambridge or Cranfield. If students wish to study at another University within our Centre then they will need to apply directly to them for the PhD stage.
